You Can’t Lose If You’re Climbing

regardless of if you fall.

Osaka, Japan. Photo by the author.

I love this place so much.
Osaka.
Japan.
Earth.
Cosmos.
We are everything and nothin’,
what a fucking trip.
In the pain is destiny.
In the hurt is love.
Incomprehensible love,
from the cosmos to the soles of my shoes.
What a gift, not to know what the future holds.

You can’t lose if you’re climbing —
regardless of if you fall
or if you never get to where you hope to go.
If your aim is up, you’re going somewhere.
As you move you come into your own
you take your shot,
another step,
trying for one more day.
And another, and another.
Then you look down and shit;
the climb was tough but it was worth it.
I don’t even care where I end up,
if I ever make it.
Turning around, upon all I’ve overcome.
Look at this view.
Look who you’ve become.
