I’ll Miss Heading to Shibuya

Headed to Shibuya, got my pink Nikes
On my feet,
Cocoon purple hood
Falling off my shoulders,
Feeling my vibe.
I’m happy, my style’s changing,
Flowing,
Growing from this chapter in Japan.
The shit I wear and the
Image that you see is just an image,
An ego,
Is this the real me?
Maybe, ya, because
It makes me happy;
Colors of my soul,
Cloth cut fibers stitch my essence,
My present.
Beads dangling off my bag, a little
Monkey from a neighborhood
Secondhand store,
Small mementos I collect are the
Things I’m gonna miss
But the mementos I cherish are the memories
Of this.
Days like today when I’m
Struck with inspiration,
The little daily things,
It’s bittersweet.
Had a dream last night
Of being back home In LA
And thinking back on Japan,
The moments that I had
The things I stressed about
Were really nothing bad.
I’ll miss them.
Barley tea cold from the vending machine
At the train station sun’s shining
Leaning against the wall,
Anderson .Paak
Plays in the headphones over my ears
— these things —
The monkey and the music,
They mean more than
What they seem, ’cause it’s not just a thing or a song,
It’s a memory,
A time, a place, a version of me.
